Even though the depression was a bright and bold truth, the world still managed to make the talkies the newest thing. With the introduction of synchronized sound to the moving picture, we also introduced long-winded speeches and musicals. I can safely say that the early talkies are the worst cinema ever had to offer, forsaking art for a burgeoning technology. I guess it had to be done, but I don't envy the moviegoers who had a hard enough time earning the money that paid for this entertainment.
